Alfama Heritage Project

Alfama is Lisbon's soul — a labyrinth of narrow streets, centuries-old houses, and traditions that withstand time. This building, located steps from the Sé Cathedral, was degraded but full of hidden treasures.

We discovered 18th-century tile panels beneath layers of paint, original wooden beams, and a lioz stone staircase that deserved to be revealed. The challenge was to modernize without losing character.

We chose natural materials — limestone, oak wood, artisanal ceramics — that dialogue with the building's history. Each apartment now has a fully equipped kitchen and contemporary bathroom, while maintaining views over Alfama's rooftops.
